Dune

The App-side owner on cross-functional initiatives. Over four years the work moved from Teams and Dune's first paid plans, through team growth and the Library, then AI in the query editor and Metrics, into a full frontend lead on the rebrand, and now enterprise data-platform UX.

“Great taste and is building/designing alongside.”
Austin, lead designer

Rolling out a new brand

Engineering lead on a company-wide rebrand across the app and the web, and the marketing site that came before it.

  1. Brand Foundations & rebrand rollout

    2025Lead

Dune’s rebrand reached every screen in the app and every marketing page: new fonts, new colours, rebuilt components, and dark and light mode to check across all of it.

I led engineering end to end, working alongside an external agency, and ended up wearing the PM hat too. I planned the phased rollout, decided what shipped in which order, and made the technical and cross-team calls along the way. I worked closely with design throughout and dealt with the problems that came up as each phase landed.

A company-wide rebrand, live across app and marketing.

“Great work on the brand initiative! You really embraced the rollercoaster and led the eng side with authority and integrity. You also helped guide the whole team to collaborate better, both day to day and also in the long term.”
    Arne, engineer

    2024Lead

A new marketing site, built from scratch around a fresh brand direction and live in about a month.

I led the frontend: turning the designs into pages, keeping them fast, and keeping up with feedback and tweaks that kept coming right up to launch.

Making Dune’s data easy to find and trust

As Dune moved toward enterprise data, I led the frontend that put data first: in the navigation, the Data Explorer, and curated Metrics.

  1. Data Explorer redesign

    2026Lead

The Data Explorer sits next to the query editor, and it had to become the place where people find the datasets worth paying for.

I was the frontend lead and the design partner on it. I revamped the curated data categories so the datasets Dune maintains come first, then built the browsing that takes someone from a category to a dataset to a conversation with sales.

  2. Metrics

    2024Lead

Metrics are curated, branded data points that people can trust and cite, part of Dune’s push to be the credible source for onchain numbers.

I led the frontend. I shaped the requirements with product and design, refined the pages through several rounds, built the UI and ran QA up to the reveal.

Revealed on stage at DuneCon 2024, Bangkok.

“Shipping and iterating super fast on metrics pages recently… It's Friday 11:30 PM her time and she is fixing things with 1 min SLA. Zone 5 confirmed.”
    Fredrik, CEO

    Color palettes in charts

    2023Lead

Analysts were choosing hex codes by hand so that Ethereum looked like Ethereum in their charts. It grew out of my earlier chart work, like the colour picker and series options.

I led it from the start. I talked with users about how they picked colours, then built charts that apply the canonical colour of a chain or protocol automatically. The palettes live in an open-source repo the community adds to, and I kept maintaining it after launch.

Turning users into paying teams

Checkout, upgrades and team invites. Taking out one step in front of payment more than doubled upgrades.

  1. Plan upgrade conversion

    Payment & upgrade funnel

    2025

Part of Dune’s push to grow B2B revenue. Upgrading to a paid plan asked people to create a team first, before they ever reached payment.

I owned the frontend revamp of checkout and upgrade. Taking that step out of the way of payment more than doubled plan upgrade conversion in the first week.

Bringing AI into the query editor

Two ways into SQL with AI: a new query from a plain-language prompt, and edits to an existing one through an accept-or-reject diff.

  1. Bootstrap SQL with AI

    2024

One of two ways I helped bring AI into the query editor. This one starts from a blank query: describe what you want in plain language and get SQL back.

I led the frontend on the prompt-to-query flow, including example prompts that show people new to SQL what they can ask. Alongside it I led the frontend on Edit SQL with AI, an accept-or-reject diff for changing an existing query, which went to all users in October 2024.
